The Division's Annual
Thanksgiving Dinner was held on
Sunday, November 20, 2005
This year we hosted as guest of honor H.E. Janusz Reiter, Ambassador
Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Poland to the United
States, who assumed his duties in Washington at the beginning of October 2005.
He gave the keynote speech.

This year, which is the 25th anniversary of the founding of
Solidarity in Poland, the recipient of the Division's Award of Recognition
was Sophie Miskiewicz Peters, who was honored for her instrumental role in
founding and running the Friends of Solidarity in Washington in 1981, after
the trade union was de-legalized by the imposition of martial law in Poland
- also for her many years of work for the PAC at both the National and
Division levels. |
